The Project

Student leaders from both schools, SMK Aminuddin Baki, and Western Port Secondary College, have come up with a project to help the elderly as they aren't treated the way they deserve in both countries. It is called Charity for the Elderly and we are going to have fundraising and entertainment for the elderly in nursing homes around Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Victoria, Australia. Our tag line is "Don't Forget the Elderly, Help Them Frequently".

We planned to do some fundraising activities such as:-
  • hold charity concerts
  • have barbeque night
  • camp fires in school
  • free dressing for RM1
  • carnivals
  • photo booths
We would also like to entertain the elderly by:-
  • playing board games and card games
  • teaching them how to use modern technology
  • performing for them
  • listening to their childhood stories
  • buying them gifts
We want to see a change in this issue but we cannot do it alone. So, we need your help, as future leaders of our nation, to help us stop this issue from happening in the future and to make a change in aged care. We hope that we have your full cooperation in helping us to change the world, one step at a time.

Don't Forget the Elderly, Help Them Frequently

SAB's Student Leaders

Hello bloggers! We would like to introduce our school's student leaders :)

Heeeeyyyyy, my name is Kai Xin. I am the youngest among all the student leaders of SMK Aminuddin Baki. I was and am interested in doing this project because I want to experience working together with students from other countries. It wasn't as different as I thought it would be. The Australians were really friendly and enthusiastic about this project. We got along really well and could carry out this project smoothly. I'm glad I joined this project and met Ayla, Toby, Kaila, Bridgette, Zoe and Luke.

Since it is my last year in school, I want to make as many memories as I can, including getting involved with this project. It was a very amazing experience I must say. Whaddup! My name is Irfan people call me Irfy. I am 15 going 16. I was in a similar project last year and it was awesome. So I decided to join again this year. Being in this project gives me new experience and new friends. This project has given me an impact on life. I am very grateful for having Toby as my buddy again this year. We had a lot fun. And I'm very looking forward to continue this project next year.

__________

I'm Sheena William, and I am the head of the student leaders of SMK Aminuddin Baki. I'm sixteen going on seventeen and am in my senior year. Like Irfan, I joined a similar project last year and when I heard about this project, I jumped at the opportunity. Upon receiving more information about this project and that it would not only benefit people in my country but also people of Australia, I was filled with excitement as my lifelong dream was to make an impact in the lives of as many people as possible. This project gave me the chance to do so, along with making new friends and exchanging ideas on a global basis. I enjoyed working with and getting to know our amazing Australian counterparts and we have all developed a close-knit relationship, not just with our buddies but with everyone. This project is the perfect balance - we have fun as well as learn new things, gain new experiences, have made and will continue to make memories that we will cherish forever, not forgetting our objective which is to help others through our project. Since this is my last year in school, I hope to set a solid, strong foundation for future student leaders to come so that this project will be fruitful and ongoing.

__________

On a final note, each and every one of us hope that this project will be productive and we will work as hard as we can to make this project a reality. With the effort and cooperation from everyone, our project will be a strong, successful one that will definitely make a change in the world. We're starting small, but as the saying goes, one small step goes a long way.
